Great Grandson's First Hair Cut
My Grandson was on break from his deployment training,
and was able to be there for his son's first hair cut.
I love that his wife, Lacey, loves photos as much as I do.
She took these memory making photos of the event.
He had enough of this hair cutting business!

Deployment

My Grandson has been doing his deployment training for the past couple months. He is soon going to be deployed. I am thankful to his beautiful wife, Lacey, for sharing photos.
Saying goodbye to his son and wife is the hardest.
We are all so proud of him!
We are thankful to him and Lacey,
for the sacrifices they are making for the rest of us!
This vehicle does NOT look like there is much protection for such precious cargo!
That is just the opinion of this Granny!!!
These are photos of Shawn at Daddy's Deployment ceremonies.
Lacey made a video of Shawn waving his flag to the music.
Made me cry, but it was so beautiful.

Easter Door Hanger

I found this cute wooden bunny at the Etc. store for $3.00
and brought it home and personalized it for my Granddaughter.
I took dollar store glitter glue that I already had on hand and added to the bunny plaque.
I just went along the lines that were already on the bunny's egg
and added lots of colored dots.
I gave his cheeks a little pink with the glitter glue too.
Then I wrote their name on it with a sharpie to personalize it even more.
When the glitter glue dried it added just the sparkle needed for the bunny and egg.
She loved it and of course that was all that mattered.

I love finding things at the Etc. store that I can use to make something special.

Banquet Peach Pie

My husband found these cute little individual serving Peach Pies, in the freezer section at the store. They were on sale for 89 cents each. He cooked them in the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes, but they can also be cooked in the microwave. How easy is that for a quick dessert? I thought they were good and the cost was great.

Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pie

My husband loves Chicken Pot Pie and he found these at the grocery store that are really good. Just take out of the box, wrap the edge with aluminum foil, place on a cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 63 or 65 minutes. They have big chunks of chicken and lots of veggies. The crust is good too. So if you are looking for something different, here it is. Yum.

Type 2 Diabetes Contest...Win trip to see Paula Deen In a New Light

When it first came out that Paula Deen was a Type 2 Diabetic and everyone was bashing her about how she ate...I was really ticked...then I thought OK Paula will turn this around as soon as she get her mind wrapped around it. She has and this is one of the promotions to make people aware of Type 2 Diabetes. Yes, it is sponsored by a company and yes I am sure she is receiving payment for doing it, BUT come on...we would all do the same thing if we had the connections and fame she does...it is that old saying...walk a mile in my shoes...or ye who cast the first stone...I love Paula Deen and she and I are Type 2 Diabetics.

Quiche - Easy Meal

My husband makes the best quiches. He takes a store bought deep dish pie crust. Pokes it with a fork and pre-bakes the crust according to package directions. He places aluminum foil around the edges of the pie crust so they will not over cook or burn.

He sautes 2 tablespoons butter

1/3 cup chopped onion

3 tablespoons bell pepper

1/2 cup mushrooms

in a small skillet until the onions and pepper are tender.

Then he mixes 3 large eggs

8 ounces of sour cream

5 slices of crisp cooked bacon

1 1/2 cups grated Swiss cheese

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

salt and pepper

and the sauteed veggies together.

Pours into the pie crust.

Place in a preheated 350 degree oven for 40 minutes or until set.

The above information is for his regular quiche. But, for the quiche in these photos he used one can of drained spinach instead of the mushrooms and used Mexican cheese instead of Swiss and cheddar. In the past he has used cooked sausage instead of bacon. He has added jalapeno peppers instead of bell peppers. So, the bottom line is you can change the recipe to what you like to eat. This can also be refrigerated and then warmed in the microwave. This is one of the wonderful weekend meals he makes while I am blogging!

Kellogg's Share Breakfast Program

Kellogg's Share Breakfast Program

Research shows that kids who eat breakfast generally have more energy and focus for learning, yet one in five go without this important start to the day. That’s why we’ve designed the Kellogg’s Share Breakfast™ program — to reach the goal of helping share 1 million breakfasts with kids who need them.

Just share our mission through social media and we’ll donate money to help Action for Healthy Kids increase participation in the national School Breakfast Program.

One in five kids come from a home where food isn't always available. Taye Diggs has joined with the Kellogg's Share Breakfast program to help them reach their goal of giving 1 million breakfasts to children who would other wise go without in one school year.

How to Join the Share Breakfast MovementFamilies across the U.S. can join Diggs in the Share Breakfast movement and give the power of breakfast to kids in need. Every time you do one of the following, Kellogg's will share breakfast to a kid who might otherwise go without:
  1. Share the public service announcement with friends.
  2. Like or comment on the Share Breakfast Facebook page.
  3. Pin the public service announcement on Pinterest.
Visit ShareBreakfast.com to watch the public service announcement with Diggs and learn about all the ways families can get involved for Share Breakfast 2013.

Sugar Snap Peas and Noodles with Sesame

My friend Pat posted what she fixed for her lunch and it looked so good! She is a really good cook and makes so many things from scratch, like her awesome biscuits! These sugar snap or snow peas and noodles with sesame would be a great dish for lunch or dinner. Thanks for sharing Pat.

1 (8-ounce) package uncooked dried Chinese-style flat noodles
  • 1 cup sugar snap peas, trimmed
  • 2 teaspoons peanut oil
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 3 tablespoons seasoned rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lower-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dark sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons chile paste with garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted and divided
  • Preparation

Cook noodles according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Add peas during last 1 minute of cooking. Drain; rinse with cold water.

Combine noodle mixture, and onions in a large bowl. Combine vinegar and next 4 ingredients (through salt) in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk. Add vinegar mixture to noodle mixture, tossing gently to coat. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons sesame seeds; toss to combine. Sprinkle with remaining sesame seeds.
