Easy Weeknight Meal

If you are looking for a super easy weeknight meal...try my daughter's creation.
She uses Rice A Roni, Cheddar Smoked Sausage and Onions for this dish.

Mix Rice A Roni according to package directions.

While the Rice A Roni is cooking angle slice the sausage and saute with onion.
My daughter thinks you should have caramelized or sauteed onion with everything.
After the rice is cooked and the sausage is browned just mix together.
This can be the meal or serve with salad or fruit.

Sharon Missionary Baptist Church Western Oklahoma

I love old churches and old buildings. One day on a drive through the Western Oklahoma countryside I saw this awesome old church in Washita County. The Sharon Missionary Baptist Church land donated by Prairie Pioneers B.E. and Virginia Grant Bryant January 7, 1910. Original Church 1909-1950. Present Church built 1951.

The sign over the door looks like they might have saved a piece out of the original church and posted it over the door. The date on the sign says 1890.
This granite monument is a tribute to B.E. Bryant who donated the land.

This side of the monument shows the original church and the present day church.

Family Tree Wall

My daughter sent me this photo and I think it may be the most beautiful wall I have ever seen. I LOVE photos especially family photos. Making a family tree on the wall is a great idea. This looks to me as if it might be on a dining room wall. Wish I had a big wall like this!

My Daughter Makes Me Smile

This is my daughter...beautiful memories of the past.

My daughter is always sending me a text or e-mail just to say I Love You.
She has the application on her cell phone that she likes to play with and send me photos.
She sends me photos of her and her friends too.
She can be pretty funny with her phone app!
This one cracked me up! Toes two ways?
This a a photo of the rose bush by her porch.
The old fashion roses that actually have a beautiful smell.
Same rose after phone applicaton.
To all of you mothers with young daughters,
 TAKE LOTS OF PHOTOS NOW!
You can't go back and take them.
The memories are priceless.
Some day, I hope your daughters send you a message just to say
I LOVE YOU.

Garage Sale Find

I was excited to find this container of trims, bias tape, piping, rick rack and blanket binding for $2.00 at a garage sale. If I had purchased them at a store only a couple of them would have been $2.00. My girls always ask "what are you going to do with that" every time I find something neat. If I do not need the item at that exact moment they just don't understand why I would want it. I am always on the look out for crafting items at garage sales or thrift stores. I know that I will put it on the shelf and use it for a future project of some kind. My goal is to always buy cheap and have things on hand for those times a project pops into my head. Kind of like hanging on to old sheets that don't match anything I own...my friend Pat started making rag rugs and I was able to fix her up with those old sheets.
This is my box of goodies!
This is a rag rug my friend Pat made from old sheets.
This is an example of how I used some trim I found at a bargarin.
I added the trim to some jean purses I made for my granddaughter.

What are your ideas for inexpensive crafting supplies?

Bloody Mary in a Vase

My child is a piece of work! She did not have any large size drink glasses so she went to the Dollar Tree to see if they had some inexpensive "party glasses." Well, she spied this vase and it looked better than the glasses she found. She is creative!
BLOODY MARY
Rim the glass with drink salt
(mixture of salt, pepper, garlic salt)
Add ice and vodka to taste
Add pickled okra and green olives
Fill with Bloody Mary mix

"Kitchen Sink" Supper

The other evening I came home from work and looked in the cabinet and frig for something to make for supper. I ended up with this "kitchen sink" dish...it has just about everything but the kitchen sink tossed in one pot. It looks really orange in these photos, but it wasn't. I took the photos while it was on the stove top cooking.
First I brought a pot of water to a boil
and tossed in a  pound package of small elbow macaroni.
I also added some(couple cups each) frozen corn
and frozen carrots to the macaroni.
After the macaroni, corn and carrots were cooked I added:
Can of mushrooms
Two cans of diced tomatoes
Can of tomato sauce
Can of green beans
Chopped onion
Garlic powder
Couple of chopped jalapeno peppers
Black pepper
Four chopped smoked sausage hot dogs
Simmer until all the flavors marry together. Stir often!
Yup, I filled an entire dutch oven type pot full of yummy!
My husband thought it was really good, but that may be that he ususally does the cooking at our house. This is one of those dishes you can make in less than an hour and eat for DAYS! You can add anything that might be in your cabinet or refrigerator to this one pot meal.

Snack Cakes - Cake

Check this out....
Snack Cakes stacked into a Cake!

When I go to Arkansas I sometimes stop at the Little Debbie outlet.
After seeing this cake I will stop next time for sure, so I can try this type of cake.
This would be a great idea for a birthday, baby or bridal shower or any occasion where you need a cake. Just change the color of the snack cakes or ribbon to fit the theme.

I love Craft Wars!

Craft Wars is a reality show on the TLC Network. It is hosted by Tori Spelling and has contestants competing in craft challenges to win a $10,000 prize. Michael's sponsors the crafting supplies used by the contestants on the show. If you have not tuned in to Craft Wars you should find it in your area. The contestants come up with some very interesting ideas. The biggest challenge of the show is that they have to work with off the wall items they are given to make something that they are told to make. We are not talking small crafts either, there has been dog houses, play houses, Christmas trees and all kinds of other crazy crafts. It is a VERY entertaining show. I love Craft Wars!
