Newspaper Weed Barrier

I have always used newspaper to put in the garden or flowerbeds to serve as a weed barrier. By using a couple layers or more of newspaper and then covering it with dirt, the weeds stay away and the newspaper gets recycled into the soil.

 

I just put the newspaper down and then poke a hole in to to place the plant. The dirt on top of the paper holds it down or in the past I have put the newspaper down and then put mulch on top of it. Just be sure to water it to make it stay in place. I didn't have a photo so I borrowed this one.
