The other day the store had Bar S Smoked Sausage on sale and we love them. Oops, I grabbed the hot ones and my husband prefers the regular ones. I got up on the weekend and wanted to put on a pot of pinto beans in the slow cooker, but did not want to run to the store to get ham hocks or salt pork. I put the beans in the crock pot and let them start cooking. Then I had the idea to add the hot smoked sausages to the beans.
This is the beans cooking with the sausage and onions added.
This was a good change to ham and beans.
The hot sausage really added a spice flavor to the beans.
My husband made this yummy pan of cornbread to go with our beans.
