BBQ Spaghetti

On a trip to Mississippi we stopped in Memphis, Tennessee to eat at Neely's Bar-B-Que. We stopped at the west side restaurant 670 Jefferson the first locaton Pat and Gina Neely opened along with brothers Mark, Patrick, Tony and Gaelin. They now have a east Memphis location and Nashville location. You can check out their web site http://www.neelybbq.com/ to find an assortment of gifts and also have their delicious foods shipped to you. This was the first time I had ever tried BBQ Spaghetti and it makes my mouth water just thinking about how good it was!

Note the bowl of BBQ Spaghetti in the left corner....OH the ribs are so good too! (Can you tell my daughter was not so thrilled I was taking photos during dinner.) If you have never had BBQ Spaghetti you need to try it.

BBQ Spaghetti

1 tablespoon oil
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 yellow or white onion, chopped
1 tablespoon garlic salt
3 1/2 cups BBQ sauce
1 pound meat cooked and cut into bite size pieces
(meat can be pork, beef or chicken)
1 pound spaghetti

In a large skillet heat the oil over medium heat and saute the pepper and onion until they get softened. Stir in the garlic salt and BBQ sauce, bring mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to simmer and add the meat. Cook spaghetti according to package directions adding salt to season. When done drain the spaghetti and toss with the sauce.

On the way back from Mississippi we decided to stop at Jim Neely's Interstate Bar-B-Que at 2265 South Third in Memphis, Tennessee. Jim Neely is the Uncle of Pat, Mark, Patrick, Tony and Gaelin. This was the original family barbeque restaurant and was started in part of an old grocery store. After it became so popular Jim knocked out a wall and made the whole building the restaurant. Interstate Bar-B-Que also ships their savory foods by ordering at http://interstatebarbecue.com/ and fill out the on line form. Not only did I enjoy the yummy BBQ Spaghetti again, but I loved the rib tips too! The serving sizes were even too much for me, so we ended up with to go bags to put in the ice chest and bring home. If you see Neely and BBQ you can be assured it will be luscious food.

Do you think this child of mine will ever get use to me taking photos of her? Bless her heart she always lets me take them, but you can tell by the lack of a smile that it was not her favorite thing to be doing.
