Crystal Bridges - Colonial Art Gallery

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas

Crystal Bridges is building its permanent collection through the efforts of its professional staff as well as important gifts from private collectors such as Alice Walton and others. The collection features American masterworks dating from the Colonial era to contemporary times and will be on view to the public year-round.

The Museum also displays a changing array of special exhibitions featuring art from museums and collections throughout the region, the nation, and abroad.

We started out in the Colonial to Early Nineteenth-Century Art gallery, viewing some really big pieces of art...these photos do not do any of the paintings justice. Hopefully you can see enough to get the idea. These paintings are HUGE...

These paintings are breathtaking!
I am in awe that they were painted in the 1800's.
We were in too much of a time crunch to be able to really read all the history of each work of art...I do plan to go one day when I have a day to spend at Crystal Bridges!
